Life news this week:
- Saturday I met up with my friend Dare and we went on a helicopter ride! Everything went well except that we had a little trouble finding the place. The ride was awesome and I loved having that experience with my friend! Afterwards we ate at Joe's Diner and had weird service experiences again. That place is so silly. I took an unsuccessful nap, sent a Polo to Meg, did my blogs, did my aerobics, and recorded a post-show interview for one of the projects I did voice acting on.
- Sunday I got up late but still got lots done. I had to redo my voice-over interview because I somehow lost it. Did my reading, practiced band songs, and did two loads of laundry. Finally recorded my next entry in the singing contest where I made top 40 last week, trying to compete to make the top 20. Did more reading and updated my collections page. Did some voice-over auditions. Got absolutely punched in the face by a short story idea and started writing it, stacking up a nice initial 1,139-word scene.
- Monday at work involved two letters to edit, three teams to organize, a bunch of paperwork, and some scrambling with a proposal. After work I just enjoyed some comments on my singing entry, practiced band music, and drowned in writing the new story, laying down a solid 2,701 words. After thinking about it for a while I decided to title it "In Your Favor." Popped in at work and did some more work on the proposal late at night.
- Tuesday was a good day. I got up relatively early to go knock out the proposal and my boss had done everything and left it for me! Excellent. I worked on it most of the morning and got it turned in on time. I sent a Polo for Meghan. And then . . . of course gave my attention to my new short story some more. 3,675 words later, the story was getting chunky, as usual. AND I got a message from someone who's interested in one of my short stories that I submitted last week (but it's not upgraded to an offer yet).
- Wednesday was also good. Results came out for the singing contest and I made the top 20. At work I dealt with timesheets and a meeting. I played DDR and sent a Polo to Meg and sent in a query. When Tony came to do my lawn I went out to chat with him. Then Jeaux and I went and recycled my nephew's old carseats that were in my garage, ate at Beef O'Brady's, and got groceries at Publix. We talked about internet jerks and misogyny as usual. After he left I wrote more of the short story! A respectable 1,832 words.
- Thursday I finally started tumbling toward burnout. Exhausted. I had an early meeting and then my boss gave me multiple tasks so I couldn't go take a quick nap--utility work and invoice support called. After work I napped but couldn't stay asleep because I was thinking about the story and couldn't settle down. So I gave up and got out of bed and wrote more. Finally got in some reading and walking, and wrote my comic storyboard, and got online to play games with my friends before returning to the short story. It topped out at a ridiculous 4,607 additional words.
- Friday was miserable because I was running on 3 hours' sleep. I had an early doctor's appointment so I had to get up at 6 AM, and then those jerks turned me away because my order didn't have the right terms on it and they insisted it was my fault for not coming to a follow-up I didn't know about in April 2025. (???) So I got up and exhausted myself and paid for Lyft there and back FOR NOTHING. Really could have used that sleep. Nevertheless, I went home, tried to straighten it out and get the right order from the doctor and rescheduled, and started work. The siren call of the story kept going off but I had to ignore it to get work done. I got my reports in, took several more UNSUCCESSFUL naps (ahhhhh!), submitted a short story to a magazine, and then had to work on my comic to get it done by the deadline. I was having trouble staying awake but worried I would fail at my webcomic if I didn't finish it. So I pushed through, finished the comic and posted it, and also in between I did some walking and band practice to keep my eyes open. I also did some preliminary planning for my contest entry for the singing contest so I wouldn't have to do it all the next day. And yeah, I did work on the short story a little bit and somehow choked out another 2,353 words. (!!!) I turned all my alarms off and went to bed.
New Reviews:
- MachineAres gave The Invisible Orientation a five-star review on Amazon.
Health Plan Update:
- Nutrition stuff: I got my three servings of fruits and veggies every day this week, and met my protein goals six out of seven days. To no one's surprise, yes, it was the restaurant day when I had too much fat and not enough protein, but that's what happens when you eat a grilled cheese sandwich and fries, and I'm happy with my sometimes food. I am still taking my vitamins.
- Activity stuff: I'm continuing to do DDR or aerobics every other day. I made my 10,000-step walking goal every day this week. Based on my phone's app, my low day was Wednesday at 10,154 steps, and my high day was Tuesday at 11,780 steps.
