30-Week Blog Challenge Week 18: Family qualities

I'm back with the Monday blog challenge! The lady in charge is Marie at Mom Gets Real. The questions are right here:

QUESTIONS

And Week 18's prompt is . . .

WHAT YOU LIKE BEST ABOUT EACH MEMBER OF YOUR FAMILY!

Tough question, and I guess I'll be here all day if I try to go into huge amounts of detail about all my family members, so I'll just do my four immediate family members.

Mommy: I can always, always count on her to come through for me, whether it be to take care of me if I'm sick, rescue me from something, give me advice or help, or listen when I need an ear. She's dedicated entirely to her children and gives of herself without thinking twice--sometimes even to her own detriment--and it's comforting to know her love for me is unconditional and that she shows it.

Daddy: I like that we have common interests in many things and that even when we don't he tries to become moderately informed about the things I like so he can understand where I'm coming from. We both like science fiction, music (playing), and reading. He's read a few of my books and sometimes checks out my videos online and we'll be able to talk about them. I never feel like he judges me or disapproves of what I'm doing; he just seems interested and engaged.

Sister Patricia: We were raised like twins and don't remember life without each other, and we remain close in adulthood even though she lives on the other side of the continent. I like that she's the member of the family with whom I can have discussions of social, political, and interpersonal issues and feel that I don't have to give an introduction or a crash course in what we're talking about in order to have the meat of the discussion. She's an open-minded and socially conscious person who wants to make a difference in the world and has been doing so through her work and her personal relationships, and I love learning from her when she knows things I don't (even though she's my younger sister, haha).

Sister Lindsay: Despite a shared upbringing we don't have that much in common, but I think what I love about her is her sense of humor and authentic realness. She's not afraid to let it all hang out around her family, and the things she says are sometimes so off the wall that she makes me laugh until my face hurts. Her deadpan delivery is classic. But she's not just funny--she's also smart and can talk a really smooth game while being honest and authentic, so you always know where you stand with her, and I think that's part of why so many people like her and admire her.

I wonder what each of them would say about me if they were asked the same question?

  1. Oh my goodness. You look so pretty in that pic with your mommy. And you really do love that Defy Gravity shirt, don't you? :) I haven't worn mine in a few years. I need to get it back out, seeing as Wicked is back in Chicago.

I quit the blog challenge. :( Even Marie's not doing it anymore and I forgot. I made it halfway though. I know you'll keep it up. You're good at committing. :)

    1. Thanks m'dear! I do like the Defying Gravity shirt--though it's a bit short so I have to be selective about when I wear it and with what.

I noticed Marie quit her own blog challenge which I thought was peculiar, but hey, I like the questions. ;)

  2. Man, I kind of want to do this weekly blog challenge now xD. I find these posts really entertaining. Hopefully I'm as dedicated as you.

Since you mention your mom pretty often, I'm guessing you probably get to hang out with her whenever possible. I sort of wish I could do the same with mine--we get along really well, but I won't her to see her as much till after I graduate college. Still, it's nice to have such a good relationship with her.

    1. Maybe you should do it! The prompts are fun. :)

I live in the same town as my mom and we're pretty close so yeah. I do have a good relationship with her. Even though we don't always see eye to eye!
